There will be open sale of petrol in filling stations from Nov 24 as per cabinet decision today.
Briefing media after the Cabinet meeting, Spokesperson of the SPF Government and Minister of CAF &PD, N Biren informed that filling of fuel in jerrycans, however, would not be allowed.
But this restriction would be an exception for the permits issued in connection with departmental projects.
The Minister further informed that the existing stock of petrol is for 16 days and diesel for 7 days.
To overcome the problem of shortage of fuel, arrangements have also been made for providing security convoy twice a week for transportation of fuel from outside.
On other recommendations adopted by the Cabinet in its meeting today, the government Spokesperson disclosed that the Cabinet has given its approval to recruitment of around 500 staffs including Chowkidar and Peons for schools under ADC, upgradation of Sikhong Sekmai Nagar Panchayat to the status of a Municipal Council and extension of the service of Resident Commissioner of Manipur Bhavan, Delhi RK Moore for a period of one year.
The Cabinet has also given its approval to appointment of Food Safety Officers in all the districts and amendment of Manipur Judicial Service Rules, 2007, the Spokesperson added.
