Imphal, February 18 2009: The apex body of the Kuki underground groups�the United People's Front (UPF) has strongly condemned the brutal hoe and rock murder of Dr Thingnam Kishan, SDO of Kasom Khullen and two of his staff by some underground elements in Senapati district.

Secretary of Information and Publicity, UPF, SN Thadou today stated in press release that the heinous crime should be condemned by all sections of the soceity.

The UPF appeals to the authority concerned to book the murderers at once.

The killing of the three men is an inhuman act and was carried out by some elements to create unnecessary unrest in the society, SN Thadou stated and appealed to the general public not to spread any misunderstanding or rumour in connection with the incident.

Instead the public should try to trace out the specific culprits and book and punish them at the earliest, he stated.

He further stated that the act of killing of the SDO and his two staff was not only inhuman but also an act of wild beast.

The act of uncivilized mentality which was meant to create disunity in the society of Manipur should also be termed as an act of cowardice.

The UPF appealed to all the communities living together in Manipur to maintain calm and restrain from creating any communal upheaval.

While condemning the barbaric murder, the UPF also questioned the motive behind the method of abducting the three officials from Ukhrul, then brought to Senapati and commit the gruesome murder at Taphou Kuki village.

It must be to malign the image of Kuki community, SN Thadou stated adding that the UPF is a peace loving organisation and any organisation which tries to create a problem within the jurisdiction of the Kuki community will be considered as the enemy of UPF.

Peaceful coexistence and development make the backbone of the UPF's ideology, the press release announced.

While paying respect to the departed souls, the UPF prays for the bereaved family members and also take the incident as happening to the Kuki families, SN Thadou informed.

On the other hand, the UPF expressed conceren over the ever increasing incidents of killing innocent persons by the police commandos claiming them as underground activists.

The role played by the police commandos is all the more frightening to the civil societies, the press release stated and pointed out that the police commandos were making more widows and orphans.

Today the number of widows and orphans was increasing day by day and the government has remained as a silent and dumb spectator.

The UPF can not bear to see the sufferings and harrassment of the widows and orphans in the society.

The UPF considers this as a flagrant violation of human rights, SN Thadou added.
