AR provided boats to fishermen of Keibul

Imphal, November 09 2011:
Brig Laove Verma, Sena Medal, Commander Loktak Brigade Wednesday distributed 10 fishing boats to the poor and needy fishermen of Keibul Lamjao village.
Col N Bhardwaj, Commandant 33 Assam Rifles who organized the event also attended the occasion, stated a press release of PIB (DW) today.
Addressing the people, Brig Laove Verma, Commander Loktak Brigade thanked them for their support towards the Security Forces operating in the area and appealed for their trust and support in the future also.
The Commander asked the local population, especially the youth, to harness their skills that would enable them to lead a better life and contribute towards the overall development of the state.
Brigadier Verma informed the gathering that Loktak Brigade will continue to work towards improving the security situation and the living standards of the people of the area.
He appreciated the efforts of Pradhan and members of Keibul village for projecting the requirement of uplifting the poor fishermen community in the village.
Meanwhile, the 6/8 Gorkha Rifles of Loktak Brigade under the aegis of Red Shield Division distributed fishery material to the people of Ningthoukhong and Toubul, as part of its ongoing Military Civic Action Programme, stated a press release of the 6/8 Gorkha Rifles.
At a function today at the Mangolnganbi College at Ningthoukhong, the 6/8 Gorkha Rifles distributed over 11,000 fingerlings and 200 fishing nets to 200 beneficiaries.
The ceremony was attended by the local municipal councillors and other prominent citizens of the area.
A cultural programme was also organised by the locals on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest, Colonel GS Reddy, Deputy Commander of Loktak Brigade, said that he hoped that this assistance provided by the Army would benefit the beneficiaries and help them earn a living.
AR saves snake bite victim: The medical team of 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) saved the life of a 40 yrs old man bitten by a venomous snake today.
The victim named N Anganhal son of Ibocha of Kakching was brought to the Unit Hospital in a critical condition.
The Victims was immediately attended by the Medical Officer who administered life saving anti-venom.
The patient was referred to District Hospital, Thoubal for further management after his condition was stabilized, stated a press release of PRO IGAR today.
