Works Minister K Ranjit said the government is having a plan to inaugurate thirteen bridges in the hill areas before March 2010.He was speaking at the inauguration function of the RCC Bridge over Khuga River at Bualjang in Churachandpur district.
Ranjit said the work order for the RCC bridge was issued on December 20, 2007 to GS Haopu for an amount of Rs 216 lakh.
The work was targeted to be completed by December this year.
He said with the cooperation of the people of Churachandpur, the construction work has been able to be completed before the stipulated time.
He further appealed the people of other districts to follow the footsteps of Churachandpur residents.
The inaugurated RCC bridge is said to give benefits to 20 villages of Thingchom, Nganukon, and Saikul areas.
Further, Works Minister Ranjit also announced to allocate fund for the construction of the road connecting Bualjang village and NH 150.He also said that the stretch of NH-150 from Imphal Airport to Churachandpur will be repaired within the current working season.
He said a hot-mix plant has been installed at Tronglaobi in Bishnupur district to connect Bishnupur and Churachandpur while seeking the cooperation of the people.
Speaking on the occasion, IPR Minister TN Haokip, who was also the functional president, said the state has seen development since the coming of the Congress in power.
He called for the people to work together with its leaders in order to facilitate more development.
The two ministers have also inspected the hot-mix plant at Tronglaobi village where the hot-mix plant has been installed.
