Imphal, March 07 2009:
Expressing its unflinching support to the policy initiated by AMSU to root out the use of unfair means in HSLC and HSSLC exams, which the KSO has been campaigning with certain achievement especially in Motbung and Saikul exam centres, the Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Saikul block has today responded over the statement of AMSU delegates to the press over alleged drunken teacher of Saikul exam centre' episode which appeared in some local dailies on March 4. While asserting that eradicating malpractices in the exam especially, the HSLC and HSSLC at Saikul centre has been one of its agendas in its campaign for quality education apart from other activities, the KSO, Saikul, in a press release signed by its president, Lulun Mate has said that the initiative taken by the AMSU delegates to the press is a welcome step as long as they act in partnership with the KSO.
Unfortunately, AMSU delegates on their visit to the Saikul centre had not reported or sought permission to the centre OC and AOC as per rules and guidelines issued by the BSEM, and there has been no official knowledge or report of their visit, which is very unfortunate and their intention doubtful which nearly appeared to be a ploy to tarnish and malign the image and reputation of Saikul centre, the KSO statement said.
The KSO statement further asserted that any move or intention to tarnish and malign the image of the examination centre is undermining the credibility of the efforts made by the KSO while also appreciating and welcoming suggestions for the improvement of the quality of education.
"Rome was not built in a day, and so is the quality in our education system," the KSO statement reminded.
