Chief minister O Ibobi who is camping at New Delhi held meeting with deputy chairman of the Planning Commission of India, Montek Singh Alluwalia to chalk out the annual plan size of the state for the current financial year 2009-10 today.
During the meeting Chief Minister, O Ibobi strongly pressed the deputy chairman to hike the plan outlay by 20 percent from the previous year's outlay of Rs 1,715 crores but the deputy chairman remained stick to his stand of hiking only 10 percent to the previous year, a source from New Delhi said.
The Chief Minister later worked out from the meeting stating that the state which has been suffering from all odd for a long time need hiking the outlay for enhancing developmental activities and if not allow, not a single rupee will not receive, the source added.
Later, power minister, T Phungjathang and deputy chairman of state planning commission MLA, E Kunjeshwor who accompany the chief minister convinced the Alluwalia thoroughly on the requirements of the fund for the state.
They also cited that the neighbouring states, Mizoram and Tripura have got 25 and 35 percent hike plan outlay respectively from the previous last year's plan size and asked Montek what is matter behind rejecting Manipur's proposal.
Later, the deputy chairman agreed to finalize at 20 higher to that of last year's plan size.
But, the finalized plan outlay is yet to be officially announced.
Manipur government is insisting the Planning Commission of India to finalized the state plan outlay for the year 2009-10 at Rs 2,425 crores including Rs 800 crores under special plan assistance (SPA).
