Imphal, September 03, 2009: Pension cards and monetary assistance were given to 412 selected elders of Khundrakpam AC today at Sagolmang under the aegis of Khundrakpam Kendra Development Committee.

The occasion was graced by the MLA of the AC, Kh Lokeshore as the chief guest.

Khundrakpam block Congress Committee president Ng Thambalngou was the president while the guests of honour were Naorem Babu of Pangei, Editor in Chief of Hueiyen Lanpao (English), Brozendra Ningomba, Joint Editor of Poknapham, A Robindro Sharma, and Editor of Matamgi Yakairol, Y Mangi.

Earlier, the MLA has also distributed prizes to outstanding students who attended the three-month free coaching classes at Sagolmang � sponsored by the MLA in his father's memory.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kh Lokeshore said the genius of students is not measured by their economic condition, but by their perseverance and commitment to their goals.

He said there are many students from poor family background who did well and become great in their life.

Lokeshore also noted that Khundrakpam constituency lacks far behind in education apart from being lagging behind in other developmental activities.

Saying that education is the most important factor for development, he pledged to serve the cause of the denizens for their upliftment in the field of education.
