Imphal, January 02: Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has stated that general secretary of NSCN (IM) Thuingaleng Muivah would not be let off if he comes to Manipur.

Addressing mediapersons during a New Year's feast hosted at the Banquet Hall of the 1st MR here yesterday, the Chief Minister who also holds the Home portfolio, however, said that his Government has not yet decided upon any definite action to be initiated against the leaders of the underground outfit which has been stripped of its unlawful tag recently to clear their path for the India visit.

NSCN (I-M) chairman Isak Chisi Swu and general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah along with other representatives of the outfit are expected to arrive at New Delhi on January 7 to meet the Prime Minister and further the ongoing peace process.

The two leaders are also likely to visit Nagaland.

Though Government of India has removed the unlawful tag and Nagaland Government withdrew all the cases filed/pending against the leaders of the outfit, Manipur Government has not yet withdrawn any of the cases filed against Muivah or any of the top leaders of the outfit.

To a question whether State Government would be despatching police forces to arrest them when they come for talk at New Delhi, Chief Minister informed that consultations are being underway with the legal experts in this regard.

But if they come to Manipur they would not be spared, Ibobi said.

Referring to the allegation of corruption charges leveled by KYKL against six persons including a Minister, Chief Minister assured that an inquiry would be taken up in this connection.

State Vigilance would be pressed into action to find out the truth.

If the finding of the Vigilance is not satisfactory then a one man commission can be instituted or even handed over the case to the CBI, he stated.

He said that he had questioned Dr Maniruddin on the allegation, but Dr Maniruddin denied that the said posts have not been appointed nor taken money for the appointment of the posts.

It may be noted here that KYKL had announced death penalty for five corrupt officials of the Education Department who were in their custody as well as for the MoS Education (S) Dr Maniruddin Shaikh on corruption charges.

But following public appeals and confession of the charges by the officials concerned, the outfit released them safely after giving them a stem Warning of not to commit the mistake in future.

However the outfit did not, withdraw its death sentence on Dr Manirudddin and the officials have mentioned his name in their respective statements.

Talking on the law and order condition of the State, Chief Minister asserted that it has been improved.

Putting up the issue of Irom Chanu Sharmila who has been on fast unto death demanding withdrawal of Armed Forces' Special Power Act, Ibobi said that the Government can act simply under the pressure of one person.

The advise of the Centre is also necessary for the removal of Armed Forces Special Power Act from Manipur.

However, talks have already been started for withdrawal of the Act in parts at least if not entirely, Ibobi informed.

Replying to a volley of questions on the alleged killing of two youths by the police commandos on Dec 25 at Paona Bazar, IG (Law & Order 1) A Romenkumar said that investigation is on into the killing.

But the detail can not be revealed as of now, he said.
