In another development that could further the already charged-up situation here, Thingnam Roshan, the younger brother of Dr Thingnam Kishan, who was killed by gunmen on February 17, has been inflicted injury and hospitalized when police commandos fired a tear gas shell within the campus of the late Dr Kishan's house today.
The incident happened this evening around 7 when police commandos who were on the beat went to the late Dr Kishan's residence and dispersed the mourners by opening tear gas shell among the gathering, according to sources.
Despite the family members' request to the commandos not to fire tear gas shell as it would create fear among the mourners, the commandos went on to fire the shell.
The police action not only caused panic to the mourners and children nearby, but also caused injury in the left arm of Roshan, younger brother of Dr Kishan.
He has been hospitalised at RIMS hospital, sources said.
After the incident, another team of police commandos came to the house and exploded a mock bomb which sent all the people present there to panic.
"We've lost our brother and is there a plot to kill all of the family members?, let them kill us if they want to," said Roshan in an emotional tone.
Condemning the police action, Thingnam Sanjeev, the younger brother of Dr Kishan said that some Ministers have come here to share our sorrow during the day and the state forces have come and create a fuse here in the evening while insisting not to make Manipur a battle field.
Locals have also registered their condemnation over the police commandos' action this evening.
They also demand the dismissal of the personnel involved in the incident.
Meanwhile, at least another six persons including four women were hurt when police fired tear gas and other mob ammunition shells to disperse protesters carrying out a rally.
The incident occurred around 12 noon when the protest rally started from Nagamapal reached Khuraijam Leirak after passing through Uripok Naoremthong.
Police resorted to firing around 20 to 30 tear gas shells to disperse the rally with slogans against Ibobi's government and demanding punishment to the culprits involved in the killing of the SDO, Kishan along with his driver Rajen and mandal Token.
The six persons hurt in the police dispersion acts were Brahmacharimayum Ibomcha (38) son of Thangmeiband Polem Leikai, Sinam Sakila (44) wife of Kesho of Polem Leikai, Thongam Benerji (16) son of Gyneshwor, Chingsubam Olen (15) son of Lokendro, Langlenhanbam Raju (15) son of of Lalambung Makhong and Yumkhaibam Shika (37) wife of Shyamdutta of Polem Leikai.They were treated at RIMS hospital.
