Except the foiling of a protest rally at Keithelmanbi in Imphal west district, no any untoward incident reported during the nine hour curfew relaxation today in Imphal east and west districts.
Another protest rally on the same matter was also carried out at Kakching Khunou today.
No untoward incident or protest reported in Imphal east and west districts during the nine hour curfew relaxation.
But protest rallies were reported at some of part of Thoubal, Bishnupur districts and far corners of Imphal west district.
A rally in protest against the fake encounter and demanding punishment to the police commandos involved in July 23 fake carried out at Kubong area in Imphal west district was foiled by the police using tear gas shells and mob bombs.
No casualty reported in the firing except minor injuries to some women rallyists in stampede.
The rally was organized under the initiative of the Rongmei Luphom (RLP) Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, Meira Paibi Apunba Lup, Kabui, Meetei, Kuki Apunba Lup and Mahakabui Khonglong Namgailong Women Society.
Around 500 people participated in the rally.
A group of women also stormed the private residence of MLA E Kunjeshwor at Wangkhei this afternoon by shouting slogans demanding resignation of the chief minister, O Ibobi and exemplary punishment to the police commando personnel involved on July 23 firing incident.
Sit-in protest were also carried out at Kakching Khunou in Thoubal district and Wangoo area of Bishnupur district with no obstruction from the police.
At the concluding part of the rallies, effigies of chief minister O Ibobi Singh, DGP, Y Joykumar and police commandos were burnt down by shouting slogans.
