The Manipur Legislative Forum on HIV/AIDS (MLFA) has organised a One Day Constituency Level Convention on HIV/AIDS today at Wangoo Ahallup Chithek Leikai Community hall in Bishnupur district.
Giving the keynote speech, Sushil Huidrom, State Co-ordinator UNAIDS said that MLFA was established on June 30, 2007 with an aim to create awareness among the people of the state with its fund from the contribution of the 60 MLAs of the state from their Local Area Development Funds.
He appealed to the people of the area not to discriminate or stigmatise people living with HIV/AIDS and protect them socially.
In his speech as chief guest, Speaker I Hemochandra who is also the chairman of MLFA reasserted that by adopting certain preventive and precautionary measures, one can easily control the menace of HIV/AIDS.
Chairman of MANIDCO, MLA N Mangi who was the president of the convention urged to unite and fight HIV to make a healthy society.MLA Dr Ibohanbi also appealed to the people living with HIV/AIDS to take ART regularly and lengthen their life span.
