All the nine nominations filed for election to the Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency have been found qualified for contesting the election during the scrutiny held at the office of the Returning Officer at Thoubal DC office today.
Out of the nine candidatures accepted today five were nominees of the national and regional political parties.
They were RJD nominee, M Jangkhomang Haokip (49) of Phayang village of Chakpikarong sub-division, Chandel district, Lok Janna Shakti nominee, Thangkhangin Ngaite (53) of Church road Simveng Lamka, NCP nominee, LB Sona, INC (Indian National Congress) nominee, Thangso Baite, BJP nominee Loli Adanee, and sitting MP, Mani Charenamei of PDA.
The rest four were filed their nominations as independent candidate.
They were Rose Mangsi Haokip (58) of Saitu Sapermaina village, Lamlanmoi Gangte alias Moimoi Gangte (33) of Longpi village of Nungba sub-division and Valley Rose Hungyo.
The last date of withdrawal of candidatures is on April 2.So the final list of the candidates to be in the fray for the outer seat will be finalized on this day if any of them withdraw their candidatures.
On the other hand, congress workers have stated arrangement for welcoming the visiting stat campaigner of the Congress.
Rahul Gandhi who will be arriving at the state capital on April 2 will participate in the election rally of the Congress nominee Thangso Baite at Churachandpur Public Ground which would be held on the same day of his visit.
During his visit, Rahul will also take stock of the electioneering of the two nominee of the party from the state sitting MP Dr T Meinya and Thangso Baite and held talks with officials of the MPCC, Chief Minister, Congress minister and MLAs and chalk out strategy for winning party's nominees, party source said.
A meeting of the Congress Legislature Party was held this evening with state Chief Minister in the chair.
The meeting most importantly discussed on the political strategy of the MPP who had replaced its earlier nominee by Th Choaba who was a former Union minister and resolved to try at their best to win the two nominees of the party, the source said.
