Imphal, January 28 2009:
STATE CHIEF Minister O Ibobi today poured encomiums on the contributions made by the litterateurs of Manipur saying that "We must not forget the good ideas and influences given by the litterateurs to bring positive changes in the society.".
The Chief Minister was speaking at a ritual function organised for laying the foundation stone for constructing a new building of the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad at Sangaipat in Imphal east.
He further said, the Sahitya Parishad is a treasure of literature for Manipuri society.
The Parishad has been taking a significant role in bringing about tranquility and development in the society, he said.
Chief Minister Ibobi said, the Manipur Sahitya Parishad has been striving for bringing development in not only Manipuri language and literature but also in the culture and heritage of other communities.
The Parishad has also been taking a major role in bringing about welfare of the Manipuri people who are settled in different places outside Manipur.
He gave assurance that the government would extend all help possible to complete the construction of the building of MSP.
Chief Minister O Ibobi was the chief guest, president of MSP, B Jayentakumar Sharma, Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board, E Kunjeshore and Chairman of PDA Kh Loken were the guests of honour.
