Awareness programme, medical camp held

Imphal, November 11 2011:
10 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Logtak Brigade of Red Shield Division conducted a series of Lectures on Tobacco and Alcohol Abuse at Nonei and Tupul on 10 Nov 2011 .
The lecture focused on the ill effects of Alcohol and tobacco addiction.
The ladies and elders of the area who attended were happy to be educated about the ill effects and promised to work towards learning these habits.
The lecture was presented by Mr Rabindro Singh and Mr Rajik Singh of Kripa Foundation.
About 200 persons attended the lecture including the troops of Assam Rifles.
The Lecture will be conducted in the areas of Kotlein and Kangchup tomorrow, said a press release of PRO, PIB (Defence).
Meanwhile, 39 Assam Rifles of 27 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of "Red Shield Division" organized a free medical camp at Thinghat village on 11 Nov 2011 .
The medical camp received overwhelming response from the locals including surrounding villages, where free medical cover and education on the importance of hygiene & sanitation was carried out.
250 patients took the benefit of the camp in which free medicines were also distributed, continued the release.
In another instance, troops of 10 Assam Rifles of Logtak Brigade under Red Shield Division, recovered 30 Kgs of Ganja and 100 Strips of SPASMO PROXIVON capsules near Dolang in the wee hours of 10 Nov 2011 .
The recovered contraband drugs and ganja were destroyed at Nonei in the presence of Police & Village Authorities including the Nashabandh Organisation on 10 Nov 2011, as per another release of the PRO, PIB(Defence) .
