Imphal, October 11 2009: A personnel of Imphal West District Police Commando accidentally shot himself with his service rifle at a tea hotel at Singjamei Chingamakhong at about 5.30 am today.

Ningombam Robin (23) s/o late Khomei of Kongba Laishram Leikai was having tea at the hotel together with his colleagues when his unbolted AK rifle went off as he got up.

It is reported that Robin is a Rifleman of 5th IRB but attached to Imphal West Commando.

A bullet which hit him on the left exited through.

He is undergoing treatment at RIMS.

On hearing the gun shot, people present in the area fled away.

A senior police officer said that Robin and his party were attached to Mayang Imphal police station.

They were coming to Imphal to buy some articles.
