Three volunteers of the Help Line Unit extending help to the injured people in the agitation treating at JN Hospital, Porompat have been picked up by a team of Imphal east police today.
The three volunteers were convener of the unit, Bogeshwor of Khongman, Nongmaithem Arunkanta (35) of Ayangpali Soibam Leikai and Naobi of Laipham Khunou.
They were picked up today at around 10.15 am by the police team reportedly with the instruction from the Imphal east district police SP.
The Help Line Unit was formed by local clubs of various places in Imphal east for extending help to the people injured in police action against the agitators, said the president of the unit Ksh Biren.
He further expressed concern over the police action against the volunteers of the unit even though such kind of units are allow to function freely at time of war and people upraising around the corners of the globe.
Expressing strong condemnation to the detention of the volunteers, he also demanded immediate release of the three volunteers without any conditions.
On the other hand, the JAC formed in connection with the killing of Ch Sanjit today visited JN Hospital and extended monetary assistants to two seriously injured victims of agitations which entered six day today.
The monetary help were given to critically injured Naorem Prakash and Khundrakpam Sanaton.
The JAC also strongly condemned police detention of three volunteers of the Help line Unit.
Convener Anita said, the act of the police will amount to invite more anger to the people.
She also demanded release of the three volunteers and other who have been picked up and detained by the police without any conditions.
