Imphal, November 11 2011:
The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has strongly reacted and condemned the brutal beating up of innocent villagers under Tamenglong district which are
mainly inhabited by Zeliangrong tribes, by armed cadres of the NSCN(IM), few days back.
Speaking to media persons, spokesperson of ZUF, said that around 30 to 40 armed cadres of NSCN(IM) came to Lishok village near Khoupum, two days back and brutally beat up the villagers.
Then again on the 10th of this month, they again had beaten up the villagers, not even sparing the women and children of Gaotao village under Khoupum police station on the charge that they gave food and shelter to ZUF cadres.
Beating up of villagers by the NSCN (IM) cadres, in the same manner as the armed forces personnel did, is an act to incite communal violence.
If this acts continue to persist than unwanted incidents might rise up any time, he warned.
Meanwhile three NSCN (IM) cadres were injured in a gun battle among the ZUF and NSCN(IM) cadres which occurred yesterday at around 11 in the morning at Thanagong village.
Among the three injured one who was seriously injured has been admitted to a hospital in Dimapur.
No ZUF cadres were said to have been injured in the act.
