Fortnight observance on crime against women from November 25

As in other parts of the country, the Fortnight Observation on Crimes Against Women will be held at different parts of the State from November 25 to December 10 .
Spreading the message of curbing crimes against women, Women Action for Development (WAD) in association with other like minded NGOs, CVOs and POs of all the nine districts of the State will organise different programmes across the State.
Speaking at a press conference held in this regard, WAD Secretary Sobita Mangsatabam said, the fortnight observance would kick start with an inauguration function at the banquet hall of Manipur Rifles on November 25 .
Governor Gurbachan Jagat, MU Political Science Professor Ksh Bimola and Manipur Police DGP Y Joykumar will grace the function as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
On December 4, Sobita said, a consultative meeting on the topic, 'Crime against women Rape and its Remedy' would be held at Classic Hotel.
On December 7, a panel discussion will be conducted on the topic, 'Moral degradation among youth and its impact on crime against women and girls' .
Street corner meetings and poster campaign will be carried out at Imphal West on November 26, at Imphal East on November 27, Senapati on November 28, Ukhrul on December 3, Bishnupur on December 5, Churachandpur on December 6, Chandel on December 7 and Tamenglong on December 9 .
Apart from conducting slogan and song lyrics competitions, spot interview programmes will be held by the representatives of Imphal, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Chandel and Senapati districts.
On December 10, a sharing session on the topic, 'Violence against women versus customary law' will be held.
Sharing session with commercial sex workers in Churachandpur and mime show at Thoubal will be the other highlights of the observance.
The observance will conclude with a closing function at Hotel Tampha on December 13 .
Gender Journalist Award will be given away on the day.
