Relay hunger strike continues

Imphal, February 15 2009: The relay hunger strike being staged demanding to save the life of Sharmila has completed 68 days today.

Today's leg of the hunger strike was staged by Meira Paibi activists of the Khagempalli Nganappithong Mamang Samdrenbi Nupi Lup, Pureiromba Nongpok Imphal, Singjamei Leishangthem Leikai, Heirangoithong Awang Maibam Leikai and Urup Khabam Maning Leikai Meira Paibi.

In connection with protest demonstration, NIPCO president Y Nabachandra, Khwairamband Pungou Phanek Yonbi Lup member RK Radhesana and UCM president K Langamba spoke at the protest venue at Porompat today.

Similar relay hunger strike for the same cause was also staged at Khongjom Bazar community hall.

Around 150 members of Khongjom Meira Paibi and Khongjom Sapam Awang Leikai Meira Paibi participated in the relay hunger strike staged at Khongjom Bazar.
