Imphal, December 14 2008:
THE MANIPUR People's Party (MPP) would do everything it can to protect the people of Manipur, which was once an independent and sovereign country, by taking a major role in defeating the Congress at the Centre in ensuing general elections.
Let new buds sprout from the old seeds, the MPP boomed.
Addressing the large gathering at the one day political conference of the MPP held today at Wangkhei Puja ground, party president, Dr Chandramani spoke on the theme ''Regional parties in Indian politics and MPP's place".
He said, it is the MPP which will steer the state out of the present crises towards a better future.
MPP was born when Congress tried to disintegrate Manipur and when it (Congress) ignored the larger interest of the people.
Different political changes had taken place in India.
A new change is also about to come to the Centre in the coming general elections.
The MPP will also take a major role in ushering the new change at the Centre by defeating Congress, he said, and appealed to the people of Yaiskul assembly constituency to take part in protecting the people of Manipur.

MLA O Joy, who spoke on the theme "Constituition, Flag, Objectives and Political Philosophy of MPP", said, politics is that which steers the society.
Development or stagnation of a nation depends on the kind of administration run by the politicians.
It is confusing whether the commandos are arresting persons or money or killing, O Joy said, adding it was the result of misgovernance prevailing in the state.
He further said that good and positive politics can change all the negative happenings in the state that ought not to happen.
It was time the people took a deep breath and pondered over, he said.
Former Union Minister Th Chaoba, who spoke on the topic "MPP's contributions to Manipur during the last 40 years", pointed out that today the people of Manipur were facing the extreme point of sufferings.
After merger with Indian union, the people of Manipur have not got their rightful shares.
In this juncture, no one who comes from outside would save Manipur.
It is we alone who must save Manipur, Chaoba said.
He blamed Congress saying that it was with the conspiracy of the Congress of Manipur that the state was merged with India.
When Manipur was merged with India, the erstwhile Congressmen of Manipur celebrated with Thabal Chongba.
Congress was responsible for Manipur's losing independence and the party was also responsible for delaying in according statehood to Manipur.
After keeping Manipur in Part 'C' status for a long time, MPP launched intense agitations which resulted in Manipur achieving statehood, the former Union Minister said.
He also said that during just one and a half years of rule of MPP, the party's government brought RIMS, Manipur University, Law Commission Board of Secondary Education, Manipur etc.
The then MPP government constructed War Memorial Complex at Khongjom and brought the then President of India, VV Giri to Khongjom where he was made to bow his head.
Besides, the MPP government developed Hicham Yaicham Pat, Bir Tikendrajit Park etc, Chaoba said.
The senior MPP leader expressed concern that today the Congress government has remained indifferent even though people are getting killed daily and the price of one kg of rice has reached Rs 22.Without bringing a change in the government, nothing can save our identity, rights, economy and status, he said.
Spokesperson of MPP and MLA, RK Anand, who also spoke on the subject "Unabated influx of migrants into Manipur and endless killings of indigenous people", said that the conference was organise with a view to finding ways to save Manipuri society as it has reached the stage of extinction due to severe mistakes committed by politicians.
Manipur became enslaved under the policies and influence of certain people who wanted to be slaves.
Therefore, practising politics without knowing the political history of Manipur would be useless, he said.
He also pointed out that the migrants population has overtaken the population of indigenous tribals.
What will happen if an outsider becomes the Chief Minister of Manipur? Besides, the indigenous people are getting killed everyday.
Therefore, it was time for the people of Manipur to wake up and saved the indigenous people, MLA, RK Anand said.
MLA, Dr Ng Bijoy spoke on the theme "The role of MPP in the objective of a new Manipur" and MLA, Dr I Ibohalbi spoke on the topic "The visions of MPP (Administration, Society and economy) .
