Imphal, October 09: Sit-in-protest were staged at different parts of the State today extending solidarity to hunger striker Sharmila and demanding complete of AFSPA 1958 from Manipur.

Under the aegis of Kangleipak Students' Association, more than a thousand protesters gathered at Kongba Bazar demanding immediate repeal of the draconian Act from Manipur and urging to save the life of Sharmila and the future of Manipur.

Similar sit-in-protests in solidarity to Sharmila and her cause were staged by Tera Keithel Meira Paibis, Tera Loukrakpam Leikai Nambul Mapal Meira Paibi, Sagolband Khamnam Leirak Meira Paibi and Khumbong Bazar Meira Paibis.

Such sit-in-protest were also observed at LYMP Shanglen, Khurai Tinsid Road, Kongpal Thongkhong Tinsid Road, Khurai Ningthoubung, Khewa Keithel, Leima Keithel Nongpok Sanjenbam, Sanjenbam Keithel, Takhel Keithel, Kongpal Laihiden and Iranpham Thongkhong.

Protest sittings demanding repeal of AFSPA were also reported from Pallel Bazar, Langmeidong Bazar, Elangkhangpokpi, Wangoo Sandangkhong Mayai Leikai, Wapokpi, Sugnu Bazar and Heirok Bazar.
