Manipuri family charred to death

A family of four, the parents and their two daughters, hailing from Manipur were charred to death in a tragic fire that razed their house at Chukudema on the side of NH 29, the stretch of NH 39 from Kohima to Golaghat has been renamed as NH 29, in Nagaland last night.
The dead bodies reached Imphal late this evening.
The family hails from Khumidhok Ephum Khongbal under Heingang PS of Imphal East.
The tragic fire occurred last night around 12.45 am and the dead bodies arrived at Imphal around 6.30 pm.
According to relatives of the family, Md Firoz Khan (35) and his youngest daughter, Tamana, were found charred to death near the main door of the totally gutted house while his wife Ranjana Bibi (40) and their daughter Raziya (14) were found in the bed room.
The family was temporarily settled in Chukudema near Linzu gate running an electronics shop in their rented house belonging to one Sele Angami.
The area lies under Dimapur PS.
Deceased Firoz had built the house in the land belonging to Sele under an agreement and had been paying rent in the last many years.
The land was also housed a Masjid, according to relatives here.
Till 10.30 pm last night, relatives at Khumidhok had contacted Firoz and his family through a mobile phone.
The news of the house being gutted was informed to relatives at Khomidok by the elder brother of Firoz, Azad Khan who is staying at the Army camp at Chukudema, they said.
Relatives are yet to ascertain the cause of the fire but they suspect it was set afire after locking the door from outside.
Except a house at the neighbourhood, the fire did not cause harm to any other houses.
The neighbouring house which belongs to a non-local was partially damaged by the fire.
Nagaland police has registered a case and initiated an investigation, the relatives said.
