Imphal, November 05 2009:
The Senapati District Students' Association has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh through the Deputy Commissioner (Senapati) demanding that agreements reached between the SDSA and Govt of Manipur (Hills Department) on June 8, 2005 be honoured at the time of recruitment of primary school teachers.
During DPC for appointment of teachers under ADC, Senapati relevant norms and provisions of recruitment rules and regulations of procedure should be strictly adhered to, the SDSA memorandum said.
Further, the student body pointed out that as the teachers are being recruited for the primary level school it is inevitable that the incumbent should be well versed in the local dialect.
Stressing that merit of the candidate should be prime factor in the selection procedure, SDSA also asserted that under no circumstance should the June 8, 2006 agreements be violated as launching of intense democratic agitation against the Government cannot be ruled out in case of failure to honour the SDSA proposals.
