Imphal, January 05 2008: The relay hunger strike launched since December 20 last in solidarity to Sharmila's demand for repeal of the draconian Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act 1958 and to protect human rights of the people of Manipur continued today too.

Today's leg of the relay hunger strike being staged at Porompat PDA complex under the aegis of the Sharmila Kanba Lup and other organisations was participated by members of the Ishikha Chanura Marup, Yumnam Khunou Awang Women Empowerment Association, Ishingthenbi Chingmi Tammi Women's Society and Sinam Nupi Yaipha Lup.

Editor of the Matamgi Yakairol Y Mangi Ningthouja and associate editor of the Poknapham Bijoy Kakchingtabam spoke on the issue of Sharmila and AFSPA at the protest venue today.
