Imphal, August 05 2009:
Not long after the Manipur People's Party (MPP) pressed the Governor Gurbachan Jagat to sack the SPF government here, the party has also urged AICC leader Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, Opposition leader LK Advani and leaders of Left parties to dismiss the SPF government in Manipur.
Addressing reporters today at the party office here, MPP President Dr Nimaichand Luwang said the Central leaders have been pressurised to dismiss the SPF government in Manipur by the party.
A copy each of a memorandum - demanding for the dismissal of the SPF government - has been sent to the leaders through facsimile.
Dr Nimaichand said the party was planning to organise a sit in protest and a public meeting today in connection with the killing of Sanjit and Rabina.
However, the indefinite curfew has prevented from organising such demonstration and meeting.
He said the party will however organise a sit in protest, public awareness and a public meeting tomorrow.
Condemning the imposition of indefinite curfew, Dr Nimaichand said the restriction of movement was against democratic norms.
He said it is unjustified curfew.
He also warned of violating the curfew.
He further said the agitation launched by the people is reasonable while adding the MPP will also fully participate in the agitations.
People could not launch the agitation before the establishment of the fact.
But now, as evidences are found, the fight for justice will be carried on till the end.
Dr Nimaichand said the agitation is not only spearheaded by the MPP.
The party is working closely with the NCP, CPI (M), and MSCP.
Further talks will also be had with other political parties.
He said a solution must be reached at this time.
