Imphal, March 30 2009: In connection with the Lok Sabha election to be held two-phases in the State, AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi would be arriving on a day-long visit here on April 2 .

Ahead of his proposed visit, an advanced team of SPG has arrived here today.

On his arrival at Imphal, Rahul Gandhi would be addressing an election meeting of the Congress party at Hafta Kangjeibung.

The SPG team today inspected Hafta Kangjeibung.

Meanwhile, issues related to kicking off the election campaign of the party and to ensure the success of the party candidates have been discussed along with CLP members at the Chief Minister's bungalow today.

However, further details of the meeting which continued till late into the evening are not available.

The MPCC (I) in the meantime has also invited AICC chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to campaign for the party here, but official confirmations are yet to be received from Delhi.
