Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress would be approaching the Central leaders of the party including its president Mamata Banerjee for taking up issues of Manipur including the demand for removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958 in the Parliament for discussion and necessary action, State unit chairman RK Dorendra has informed.
Talking to mediapersons at the occasion of inaugurating the newly set up party office at Palace Compound today, Dorendra, who is also a former Chief Minister of the State noted that the fast unto death agitation being launched by Irom Chanu Sharmila over the demand for repealing the draconian Act is completing 10 years.
In support of the campaign, 100 days count down, being launched, State unit would be exerting pressure on the National leaders for taking up the issue in the Parliament as well, Dorendra said.
