RIMS authority has decided to ban selling medicines by the representatives of the pharmacies at the Casualty, Gynea wards etc.
from March 10 onward, said the superintendent of hospital Y Mohen in a press conference held today at his office chamber.
Giving reasons for banning the same, Dr Mohen said that the step has bee taken up by the authority after considering the frequent incidents of selling medicines which are not recommended by the doctors that amount to create misunderstanding between the patient parties and the doctors.
Apart from this, he said, the representatives of the pharmacies sometimes used intoxicant items and indulge in indecent activities to the girls attending patients.
So, the pharmacies should stopped sending out their mobile representatives in the wards of the hospital.
Otherwise, RIMS authority will intervene and ban them entering the hospital, Mohen added.
He also said that drive to stop selling and buying of medicine by the pharmacies on the southern side of the hospital near the Gynea ward will also be conducted from this day March 10. Five pharmacies which would sell medicines to the patients at low cost will be opened inside the hospital in the near future, Dr Mohen said stating that the shops will sell other items other then medicines like needles at 10 percent discount and 12 percent to the patient of below poverty line (BPL) families and cancer patients.
Medicines will be made available at 10 percent discount to common people while to that of BPL families with 15 percent.
Five farms have been selected by issuing public notice.
They will open the pharmacies at the earliest he said adding a 100 bedded gynea ward will also be constructed in the hospital under the Prime Minister's package.
He also expressed disappointment on the selling of some require materials to the needy persons coming from far of villages and from hills in excess prices.
