Bus service strike put off

Imphal, May 27 2011:
The decision of the Imphal Ukhrul Road Drivers' Union to suspend bus service along Imphal-Ukhrul road from May 28 in protest against the assault on 'Goodwill' bus handyman SA Nganchomi and vandalisation of the bus at Phungreitang Bazar, Ukhrul on May 22 has been suspended till May 30 .
A decision to this effect was arrived at after a joint meeting with Tangkhul Naga Long and the 2nd OC of Ukhrul police station today.
However, all passenger service including taxi service would be suspended from May 31 if an amicable solution could not be brought within this period.
Nevertheless, essential services, medical and religious functions would be exempted from the purview of the strike, conveyed a press release issued by the Imphal Ukhrul Road Drivers' Union.
