Imphal, March 18 2013:
Expressing disappointment at the existing condition of Moreh hospital, UCM has decided to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister and the Health Minister.
Speaking to media persons at their office today, UCM president Y Nabachandra observed that Moreh hospital is seriously crippled by absence of adequate infrastructure.
There is no adequate strength of doctors and nurses.
To improve the situation of Moreh hospital, UCM would submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister and the Health Minister very soon, he said.
The pathetic condition of Moreh hospital came to light when a team of UCM and media persons visited the hospital on March 13.Walls of the hospital building have developed cracks, the interior is filthy and does not look like a hospital.
The minor OT block was repelling at the first view, Nabachandra observed.
The hospital has nine toilets but no septic tank nor any water reservoir.
Though the hospital is said to be 50-bedded, electricity is not available in the hospital.
Only one woman indoor patient was found in the hospital when the team visited.
The attendance register revealed that staff nurse N Ronibala and male health worker Lalmidang have appended their signatures up to March 14 .
Though there should be two senior MOs at the hospital, only one MO was found present.
There was no doctor of gynaecology, paediatrics, and medicine although Moreh hospital should have at least one doctor for each of these departments, Nabachandra added.
