Jiribam, December 14 2008:
A truck carrying 750 heads of chickens (Broiler) has been sent back to Assam from Jiri Veterinary check post at Chandrapur.
The truck carrying chickens put up a sign board with the words "On Army Duty".
The truck was heading towards Leimakhong before it was sent back.
Field Assistant of the Jiri Veterinary check post N Joygandhi said that the Government's prohibition order against import of poultry birds and products covers all sections without any exception.
He also questioned as to how the check post on the side of Assam allowed passage of the truck carrying such large number of chickens considering the outbreak of bird flu in Assam.
Two chickens were taken from the consignment for laboratory test, Joygandhi added.
