Imphal, June 30 2010:
Following the failure of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Delhi to submit its report, the activities of the Justice Inquiry Commission, which is probing the Khwairamband Bazar incident of July 23, 2009 has almost come to a grinding halt.
The photographs published in the Tehelka news magazine have been sent to CFSL for verification in April this year.
As the report of the verification is yet to be submitted, the Commission had sent a reminder but CFSL is yet to submit any report in this regard.
In connection with its investigation, the Commission has so far recorded the statements of the injured victims and eyewitnesses as well as taken the affidavits of the Police Department and the accused police personnel.
But the failure of CFSL to submit its report on the verification of the photographic evidences of the incident has almost put the activities of the Inquiry Commission to a halt.
Justice Agarwal is expected to come to Imphal on July 6 .
At the moment there is no official explanation for the delay in submitting the report from the side of the laboratory, though verbal communications have been established that the delay is due to the heavy work load.
