Imphal, March 30 2009:
Teachers of a school in Khundrakpam under ZEO Zone-II (Imphal East) have found to have put their signatures on the attendance register even on curfew days even as another teacher who already signed on the register for tomorrow (March 31) has been detected.
These misconducts of the teachers were detected during an inspection visit by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed in connection with the academic campaign 'Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamsi 'of Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) .
Talking to mediapersons in this connection at the head office of the student body today afternoon, SIT convenor Lousigam Rojit said these misconducts were detected at one of the schools out of the three inspected today.
He informed that at Khundrakpam Chingphu High School which has only 11 students but 16 teachers including the headmaster, the teachers have put their signatures in the attendance register even on February 19, 20 and 21 on which days the Government had announced curfew in view of the public unrest.
Interestingly, one teacher had put his signature on the register today even for tomorrow while another female teacher of Physical Education had not signed since March 24, Rojit disclosed , while asking all the 16 teachers including the headmaster to come to the office of MSF within three days from today.
The SIT team had also reportedly inspected the Tharo Primary School at Khurai Salanthong and Khomidok Primary School at Khurai Heikrumakhong.
The condition of these two schools are pathetic, Rojit said, while drawing the attention of the Government and its related agencies to look after the infrastructural requirements.
Rojit further informed that many teachers under the ZEO Zone-I have been disappointed with the rationalisation process and have stopped attending classes.
The situation has come about as the Government has not conducted the rationalisation process in a transparent manner, he alleged.
Nonetheless, he appealed to the teachers to attend their classes in the interest of the students until an alternative arrangement has been put in place.
