Music and sports are to be used tools to eradicate the dreaded HIV/AIDS in Nagaland.
Nagaland, which is considered as one amongst the six highest HIV/AIDS prevalent State is all set to spread awareness campaign Music and sports to reach out to the people specially the youth preventive messages on HIV/AIDS with the launching of Multi-Media campaign by Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS).
This was informed by Commissioner and Secretary Health and Family Welfare Menukhol John during a press conference held at Heritage Complex Kohima.
He also said that the campaign to be carried out in all 11 districts of Nagaland will involve all important stakeholders including NGOs, Red Ribbon Club, Media and all the Government related departments.
"We want to create awareness where people can accept the fact that HIV/AIDS is treatable and make them avail that testing facilities' he added.
He also informed that as part of Multi-media campaign, intensive inter-personnel communication will be conducted particularly in the media dark villages.
Project Director NSACS, Neiphi Kire who also briefed the media persons informed that NSACS will use soccer tournament organised by different organisations with the district and state level to reach out to young population of the state.
As part of the campaign it has been plans to reach out to the audience of the tournament through hoarding and banners covering messages on HIV prevention.
He further informed that villages with very poor for no communication facilities and media coverage will be identify for inter-personnel communication.
Highlighting on capitalising popularity of Music Event Manager, Theja Meru said that the Live Drive-Music on the move will be conducted in all the district through band competition, which will be culminate in the State level event at Kohima.
"The show would also made available in VCDs that can be sold at low prize reaching the messages to even wider audiences.
The proceeds would go to network of positive people in Nagaland' he maintained.
