Preparatory session begins

Imphal, March 18 2013:
A preparatory session for Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) set up at Andro, Imphal East district as a component of SSA has begun today.
Altogether 105 girls students belonging to different parts of Imphal East district have enrolled in the maiden session of the school which has classes VI to VIII.
These students belong to different categories such as single orphan, double orphan, BPL, minority, ST, SC and general.
The students would be taught by four full-time teachers and three part-time teachers.
All the students enrolled in the schools would be given medical facilities, hostel facilities as well as text books free of cost.
As necessary infrastructure for the school is being constructed presently, the preparatory session was opened at the Ayush Block of Yambem PHC while the students are being accommodated at the Yambem residence of Andro AC MLA Th Shyamkumar.
The preparatory session of the KGBV was opened by MLA Th Shyamkumar and SSA District Programme Coordinator Ch Bobichand.
Notably, KGBVs have already started functioning fully in some districts of the State.
