Imphal, October 27 2009:
The Zeliangrong Baudi-Nagaland (ZB-N) has reaffirmed on Tuesday to abstain from the proposed October 30 and 31 Zeliangrong Convention at Tamenglong.
In a fax statement, the Zeliangrong Baudi (N) said that the proceedings of the 'general consultative meeting' of Zeliangrong Baudi (N) held on Tuesday at Jalukie Town hall, Peren district in Nagaland has taken this decision.
According to the statement, during the meeting today, the 'house' after much hearing, threadbare deliberation and minute discussion came to a decision which is adopted as a decision of the Baudi (N).
It said that the nature of the consultation was an open ended, in which all the intellectuals be it Government officers, 'National workers', NGO leaders, and all concerned citizens were given to participate in the discussion.
The 'house 'on discrete study, analysis and consideration on the proposed convention of October 30 at Tamenglong, concluded that that proposed convention fell short of the modality, conventionality, constitutional guarantee, and wish and desire of the Zeliangrong people.
The ZB-N said that considering the good aspect of the convention, the 'house' felt that in order to maintain the status quo and ethical principle of the Zeliangrong people, the October 30 convention be postponed to some convenient time and location as appealed so as to make the convention complete and people mandated one.
It also declared that the nomenclature Zeliangrong Baudi-Assam, Manipur and Nagaland (ZB-AMN) shall remain as "our people's apex body" which was officially adopted and declared at the convention of November 15, 2007 at Jalukie in Nagaland.
"Therefore, there arises no necessity call for another people's convention on the nomenclature at this point of time," the ZB-N added.
The ZB-N also resolved that Baudi (AMN)'s stand adopted at the 'general assembly' of September 30, 2009, Tamenglong to abstain from officially participating at the convention 2009, was reaffirmed at today's 'general consultative meeting'.
The ZB-N said it concerned that the Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) recognizes no parallel body other than the Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) which was officially declared on November 15, 2007 at Jalukie in Nagaland by the former Zeliangrong Union after the series of consultations and subsequent 'general assemblies'.
The Zeliangrong Baudi-Nagaland (ZB-N) reasoned that the convention shall not carry the wish and desire of the Zeliangrong people because it could not carry the people's mandate of the three States and elsewhere.
