Joining the public outcry against the gruesome muder Kasom Khullen SDO Dr Thingnam Kishan, driver Aribam Rajen alias Amuba and Mondal Yumnam Token, the Apunba Lup has condemned the murder in the strongest term.
The Lup has also convened a public meeting on the heinous crime on February 20 .
Moreover, the Apunba Lup has made an open invitation to all leaders and functionaries of hill based organisations to discuss the situation arising out of the gruesome murder on February 21 .
Addressing a press meet organised jointly by the Apunba Lup and the JAC constituted in connection with the murder of the trio at Manipur Press Club here today, Apunba Lup Coordinator Sunil Karam noted that the gruesome murder of young MCS officer Thingnam Kishan, Rajen and Token is one incident that shocked and hurt the sentiments of the people of Manipur the most.
Declaring that the Apunba Lup fully supports the ongoing 48 hours bandh called by the JAC, Sunil informed that the Apunba Lup will decide its course of action after a public meeting at Yumnam Leikai on February 20 .
Assistant coordinator Elangbam Johnson urged upon the authority to book the culprits involved in the brutal murder.
He also called upon the people to cooperate with the authority in identifying and booking the culprits.
Appealing to all civil organisations based in the valley as well as hills to cooperate with the Government in hunting down the murderers, the Apunba Lup functionary called up all organisations of both hills and valley to work together on a mission to track down and punish the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
Saying that a joint meeting of all organisations will be held at Manipur Press Club at 11.30 am of February 21, Johnson extended an open invitation from the side of Apunba Lup through mass media to all organisations based in the hills.
While urging upon the authority to book the Ukhrul DC in connection with the murder, the Apunba Lup functionaries demanded immediate release of the three persons abducted together with SDO Kishan.
JAC convenor S Shubanker questioned the failure of the Government to trace the whereabouts of the three persons abducted together with Kishan till this moment.
He also asked whether security forces being deployed by the State Government for maintenance of law and order in the State have firepower and strength only in the valley.
"Are the security forces too weak to perform their duties in hills?", he asked.
Taking part in the press meet, senior Advocate Khaidem Mani demanded that the Ukhrul DC should be booked, arrested and questioned for his inability to maintain law and order in the district.
