Imphal, November 12 2009:
Under the stated objective of indemnifying losses suffered by the student community as a consequence of the prolonged agitation, including class boycott call, the State Government has decided to prevail upon heads of educational institutions to conduct classes on Sundays and holidays, too.
Confiding that decision to conduct classes even on holidays was taken to facilitate the victimised students make up for the precious time they had lost due to agitations as well as to attain prescribed attendance percentage, Education Minister L Jayenta also appealed to guardians and parents to advice their children/wards attend classes.
He further said that as students who are supposed to appear for the matric examinations need to record 150 days attendance and 180 days for class XII students he along with officials of Education Dept (S) thoroughly discussed the matter and decided to instruct conduct of classes without any weekend or holiday breaks.
