Kohima, March 07 2009: Assam Rifles has stepped up its vigil and carried out many successful operations in various parts of the state over the last few days.

On a tip off, a column of AR established various frisking and checking points at Singrijan, Dimapur and intercepted a suspiciously moving white Maruti Gypsy bearing Regd No NL 07-2783 on Friday.

After having searched, they found SS NSCN (IM) Under Secretary (Finance) along with one 7.65 Pistol, 16 rounds, three mobile sets, cash and lot of incriminating documents.

He was apprehended.

In a separate incident on Friday, a column of 164 TA Bn (H & H) in Tuensang intercepted a private taxi bearing Regd No NL 03T-0166 and apprehended a NSCN (IM) cadre along with a .22 Pistol and 06 live rounds.

All apprehended cadres have been handed over to police.

Appealing to all factions to adhere by the agreed Cease Fire Ground Rule and desist any unauthorized movement outside designated camps in the interest of peace and tranquility, the Assam Rifles authorities asserted that under no circumstances would violations of CFGR be tolerated and stringent measures would be adopted against erring cadres to maintain peace all over the State.

Army and Assam Rifles continues to dominate all civilian inhabited areas with an aim to check any armed movement of cadres trying to vitiate peace and cause harassment to the local populace, said a statement issued by Maj Pallab Choudhury, PRO, IGAR (N) today.
