Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, who had been to New Delhi in connection with finalising the plan size of the State for the current fiscal year, arrived at Imphal today amid tight security.
The Governor has reportedly asked the Chief Minister for a meeting tomorrow to discuss the issue related to the July 23 incident.
Well ahead of the arrival of the Chief Minister who flew back to Imphal in a flight of Kingfisher Airlines at around 1 pm, stringent security measures have been put in place all along Tiddim Line with frisking and verification of any passerby.
Security had also been stepped up at the airport.
No one have been even allowed to walk along the route where the Chief Minister and his entourage were to pass through.
A group of womenfolk who were planning to demonstrate at Changangei was also dispersed by the police.
Meanwhile, according to reliable source, Governor Gurbachan Jagat has asked the Chief Minister for a meeting to discuss the issue surrounding the killing of Chungkham Sanjit in the July 23 incident at BT Road at around 3.30 pm tomorrow.
On account of the curfew, streets and market places in Greater Imphal remained deserted today though security personnel were seen posted at very sensitive areas.
The attendance in the offices of the State Secretariat was also reportedly thin.
