Imphal, August 04 2009:
Alleging that Md Abdul Kadir alias Khaba and his son Md Altab alias Kora alias Wanglen Luwang of Urup Naokan have been harassing people with anti-social and anti-party activities with the weapons provided by PULF, the outfit has asked the father-son duo to hand over the weapons to the outfit's monitoring cell on or before August 10 .
According to a press release issued by the outfit's publicity cell secretary Ramjan Alam, the outfit gave them one AK 56 rifles, two AK-47 rifles and two M-20 pistols along with ammunition on their request to protect themselves from MI Khan and his group.
Earlier in July 2007, the father-son duo was given sanctuary by PULF who were then hunted by MI Khan group.
However, when the outfit asked them to return the weapons, they snapped all contact with the party and were changing telephone numbers very often.
Using the party's weapons, the duo have been collecting money from the people of Urup, Keirao, Kyamgei and Lilong as well as from the counters of inter-state bus services.
It was also at the behest of Md Abdul Kadir and Md Altab that Md Heitombi of Urup Naokan and Md Nazir Khan of Urup issued a press release in the name of publicity secretary Ramjan Alam which declared that Alam Azad would take over as the outfit's chairman.
The press release was published in the Manipuri edition of this paper on July 28 .
The outfit has been restraining itself from taking necessary action against Heitombi and Nazir Khan in the interest of AMWJU as the two miscreants claimed themselves to be related with the media.
The outfit has been waiting comments of AMWJU on their anti-party activity, it said.
On the other hand, the projected chairman Alam Azad has turned out to be an innocent civilian, not related to any organisation/group, Ramzan Alam conveyed.
Altab alias Kora alias Wanglen Luwang further threatened family members of some leaders of the outfit through telephone in the night of July 29 saying that they would be killed with the help of Assam Rifles.
In case Kadir and Altab failed to return the party's weapons by August 10, the matter would be put up in the party's central committee meeting for necessary action, Ramjan Alam added.
