Champion's title eludes Manipur team as Delhi tops in Thang-Ta

Imphal, December 19 2011:
Even though Thang-Ta was originated from Manipur, the Champion's title of Thang Ta events eluded Manipur placing Delhi in the top position with 55 points in the 57th National Inter School Games Meet-2011 hosted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports under the aegis of Federation of School Games, India at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal.
Delhi who won five gold, eight silver and three bronze medals secured 55 points in total and secured the top position.
With nine gold medal and three silver medal Manipur secured 54 points and was placed in the second position.
Harynana who won two gold, two silver and six bronze medals secured 28 points and was placed in the third place.
Jammu and Kashmir secured 13 points with one gold, two silver and one bronze medals was placed in the fourth place.
Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Vidya Bharti with 7, 4 and 3 points were placed in the 6th, 7th and 8th places respectively.
Meanwhile, the U-14 girls team of Manipur has entered the semi finals after defeating a goalless Maharashtra with eight goals in the quarter final match played today.
A Roja of Manipur scored three goals in the 22nd, 38th and 47th minutes of the match.
The other five goals of Manipur were scored by Kumburly D'souza, H Sunita, W Linthoingambi, N Ratanbala and K Yangboy Kom in the 4th, 7th, 42nd, 23rd and 55th minutes respectively.
In another match Mizoram beat Chhattisgarh 6-0.Lalmuanpui of Mizoram scored three goals in the 14th, 20th and 44th minutes.
Vanlalduati scored two goals in the 22nd and 53rd minutes while her teammate Laldinthari scored one goal in the 37th minute of the match.
In another keenly contested U-14 match Goa beat Chandigarh with a solitary goal.
The solitary goal was scored in the 16th minute of the match by Marlatcardozo of Goa.
In yet another keenly contested match Nagaland beat Haryana 2-0.The two goals of Nagaland were scored in the 9th and 60th minutes of the match by Neicvtuo and Aishla respectively.
In a Group D match of U-17 category, Bihar beat a scoreless Gujarat with five goals.
Beauty Kumari of Bihar scored two goals in the 2nd and 60th minutes.
Tarakhatuon also scored two goals in the 26th and 40th minutes while her teammate Khushbu scored one goal in the 35th minute of the match.
In a Group B match, Orissa defeated Goa 2-1.Sinulata Sahoo of Orissa drew first blood in the 17th minute of the match.
It was soon equalised by Colaco Nevilla in the 23rd minute in a penalty kick.
While the winning goal of Orissa was scored in the last last minute of extra time by Anima Malik.
In another Group B match Chandigarh beat Punjab 4-1 .
The lone goal of Punjab was scored by Sumanjit Kaur in the 4th minute of the match.
On the other hand Anika of Chandigarh scored two goals in the 5th and 57th minutes of the match while her teammates Suchini and Shairabedi scored two goals in the 27th and 59th minutes.
In a Group C match, Mizoram thrashed Andhra Pradesh 5-0 .
Maria scored three goals in the 18th, 29th and 59th minutes of the match.
Lalhmingmawi and Lalnungtlungi scored one goal each in the 34th and 41st minutes of the match.
In another Group C match Haryana thrashed a scoreless Karnataka with 11 goals.
Sanju scored six goals in the 12th, 14th, 19th, 25th, 41st and 54th minutes of the match.
Sonia scored three goals in the 7th, 34th and 59th minutes.
Nirmala and Karmawati scored one goal each in the 30th and 56th minutes of the match.
In a Group D match, Bihar beat Madhya Pradesh 4-0.Khushbu scored two goals in the 6th and 58th minutes.
Neha and Beauty Kumari scored one goal each in the 24th and 59th minutes of the match respectively.
In another match Nagaland beat Chhattisgarh 3-0.Lhaitinglam scored two goals in the 17th and 20th minutes while her teammate Kezevinuo scored one in the 50th minute of the match.
