National Games gold medalist dies in accident

Imphal, March 17 2011:
A gold medalist in archery in the recently concluded National Games at Jharkhand, died due to severe injuries in an accident today at Shija hospital.
Twenty-one year old Wangjam Bidyachandra son of W Dhanajoy of Thoubal Kshetri Leikai was admitted at the hospital after he sustained severe injuries when the scooter (Honda Dio) he was riding on collided with an Activa Honda coming from opposite side at Thoubal Bazar yesterday around 10 am.
He succumbed to his injuries this evening around 5.30 pm.
Police handed over the dead body to the family after postmortem was conducted at JNIMS.
Bidyananda had represented Manipur in the archery event in the recently concluded National Games and had won a gold medal, family source said.
