Sub-Jr National Football Championship : Lynda Kom hattrick propels Manipur into semis

S Lynda Kom scored thrice to hand Manipur a huge 5-1 win against Jharkhand in a quarter final match of the ongoing Sub-Junior National Football Championship for Girls, 2018-19 at Ravenshaw University ground, Cuttack, Odisha.
Manipur took off the game on a bright note with series of incisive runs looking for the opener but Jharkhand managed to hold off the pressure until Vunglawmching found the gap to slot home the opener in the 18th minute of the match.
The lead caught Jharkhand girls by surprise and forced them to slip into defensive mode as Manipuri forwards easily breached their defence set up on multiple occasions.
After many actions and close calls that failed to bear fruit, S Lynda made her way into the box and hit her opener and team's second during the additional time (45+3) of the first half and doubled Manipur's advantage.
Manipur sustained the pressure after the break as well and it was in the 63rd minute that Lynda Kom made her second strike before N Priyanka add another in the 68th minute.
Jharkhand who were reeling under immense pressure from Manipur however pulled back a single in the 73rd minute through Sunita Munda but the goal proved insignificant as Lynda Kom was at it again completing her hattrick in the 79th minute and wrapped up the game 5-1.Manipur will lock horns with Himachal Pradesh in the semi-final match at the same venue (Ravenshaw University ground) on July 10 at 2 pm.
