Commonwealth gold medalist Renubala feted

Imphal, January 05 2011:
The Imphal Public School (IPS), Canchipur today felicitated weightlifter Yumnam Renubala, commonwealth games gold medalist in a simple function held in the premises of the school.
Teachers and students of the school presented gifts to Renubala who is in leave for 10 days and arrived yesterday at Imphal.
Principal, IPS, A Kennedy presented Renubala a gift of Rs 10,000 and a track suit.
It may be mentioned that Yumnam Renubala won gold medal in the Commonwealth Games held in Australia in 2006.Unfortunately she could not participate in the recent Asian Games held in Guangzhou last year due to an illness.
She was advised to take rest for at least two months by her doctor.
She could not be able to participate in the National Games and Senior National Championship which is to be held in February.
Renubala said that she felt sorry for not able to participate in the National Games and Senior National Championship.
She said that she will bring fame and laurel to the country and state in other championships in future.
Yumnam Renubala is an employee of Indian Railways.
She is a daughter of Yumnam Mani and Yumnam ongbi Tampha of Kyamgei Mayai Leikai.
