Manipur fencers reaffirmed their supremacy in national level competition clinching the overall title of the 15th Junior National Fencing Championship held at Amravati (Maharashtra) from November 2 till 5.According to a release of Manipur Fencing Association issued today, State fencers bagged six gold, three silver and one bronze medal in the championship where-in 24 fencers and four officials represented Manipur.
The individual gold medallists include M Loidam Devi (foil), Th Diana (sabre) and H Bichu (foil), while W Roji Devi and W Somorjit Singh fetched silver medals in foil events.
W hemanta added the sabre bronze to the State�s medal tally.
Three gold medals were also won in team event competitions with W Roji, W Reni, M Loidam and Haripiyari making top podium finish in foil, with A Ashanta, W Hemanta, N Solik and I Surendro emulating the feat in sabre competition, as A Nongdamba, H Bichu, W Somorjit and H Robikumar wrested the foil (boys) gold.
N Sandhiraj, Ksh Roshan, Ksh Jimmy and Ak Romesh settled for the silver in epee competition.
Fencing trial: Manipur Fencing Association will conduct a trial programme on December 2 at 6.30 am at the Khuman Lampak SAG Hall to select State fencers for the 18th Senior National Fencing Championship which will be held at Trivandrum from December 27 till 30.
