AR to organise Inter Community

As part of Military Civic Action Programme undertaken by 33 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Loktak Brigade of Red Shield Division an Inter Community Peace and Harmony Meet will be held at Moirang from January 20 to 15 in connection with the Republic Day 2012.The event is aimed at fostering peace and harmony amongst the various communities of Manipur by promoting sports & culture and also show case the varied culture of Manipur, stated a press release of PIB (DW).
The Loktak Brigade Republic Day Football Tournament 2012 will also be held as part of the at meet at Moirang College and Moirang Multipurpose High School football grounds.
As many as 12 football clubs from various parts of Bishnupur and Nonei are participating in the event.
On the culminating day of the tournament, the rich customs, culture, traditions and ethnic diversity with their uniqueness will be showcased by troupes from various communities of Manipur who will perform cultural dances of their respective communities.
The security forces will also showcase their own skills in pipe and brass band.
The event will be kicked off on January 20 by Colonel N Bhardwaj, Commandant 33 Assam Rifles at Moirang College, Moirang.
During the inaugural function, sports items under Military Civic Action Programme worth Rs 1,50,000/- will be distributed to various sports clubs of Thanga Heisnam, Keibul Lamjao, Konumla, Komlakhong and Moirang Khunou falling under the area of responsibility of 33 Assam Rifles, the release added.
