Imphal, May 15 2011:
Manipur suffered its first defeat in the semi final stage of the National Senior Women's Football championship after going down to West Bengal in sudden death at Bhillai today.
The loss in the last four round of the championship's 19th edition is the first for Manipur in the history of the competition as the State eves had claimed the title on 16 occasions and ended as second best team twice.
After normal and extra-time ended on a goalless note and penalty shoot-out also failing to produce an outright winner as one player each failed to convert, the Bengal girls eventually sealed their place in the summit clash with the sudden death triumph.
