YWC, Thambalkhong pipped NESU, Khurai by a solitary as ESU, Wangkhei and Mizoram's Kolaship District XI played out a 1-1 draw in quarter final league matches of the 50th CC Meet football tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
After a goalless first half in the quarter final opener in Group P, YWC's T Dhiren slammed home the winner in the 56th minute from a Th Saran cross.
YWC also had another chance to extend the goal advantage in the 87th minute but T Shyamo missed miserably in putting the ball into the open goal as defender T Dhanabir of NESU rushed in to clear the threat.
The second tie of the day that saw ESU's Y Dijamani sent off after receiving two yellow cards, including one for abusing the match official began with the Wangkhei side take the lead off a penalty conversion by K Ashok kumar in the 17th minute.
Kolaship equalised in similar fashion when F Zohminthanga beat the rival custodian from the spot in additional period.
In addition to the red card shown to Dijamani, the match was marred by five yellow card booking with four of them against the Wangkhei side.
As per tournament rules framed by AMFA a team receiving four yellow cards is liable for fine of Rs 5000.
