Volunteers of Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) Thoubal District has nabbed fiver persons along with 137 litres of liquor in a special drive conducted by the volunteers on March 24 last.
A press statement of CADA said that the five nabbed personnel are Heiningsumbam Chaoba of Hiyanglam Makha Leikai, Maibam Ibomcha (32) of Wabagai Kadajit, Thokchom Naba (54) of Lamjao Mayai Leikai, Elangbam Maichon (42) of Hiyanglam Makha Leikai and Mayengbam Jila a resident of Wabagai Leirak Achouba.
All five of them were surrendered to their respective families after attaining advice regarding the evil effects of intoxicants in the society from CADA.
The seized liquor was destroyed by CADA in public said the statement.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) in a press statement said that 75 litres of liquor was seized from three persons by AMADA head office in a special drive conducted at the areas of Meetei Sangaiprou and Khangempalli Pankha on March 23 last for vending alcohol besides repeatedly warned by AMADA before.
The apprehended persons are Konjengbam Ibembhal (41) and Konjengbam Memcha (47) of Meetei Sangaiprou and another Kiyam Khelen (42) who migrated from Moirang kiyam and currently residing at Khagempalli Pankha.
